LPA Open 2025, 25-27 april - 300% TGP

Hi all,

We are happy to invite you to the 14th edition of LPA Open which is a group matchplay tournament in “Pinburgh style”. It takes place April 25-27 2025 and will be Swedens qualifying tournament for the ECS-playoff with a 300% TGP. Both qualification and playoff are group matchplay with machines from different eras (see below for tournament details). The registration opens in this thread January 15th at 6 pm CET (see below for more information). There will be a warm-up tournament on Friday night with registration in a separate thread (drop-in accepted). Payment at site and no player limit.

There will be a prize pool as a side bet where LPA will contribute 50% of the total value of the prize pool.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Swedens qualification tournament for the ECS playoff (TGP 300%).

- Qualification seven rounds of 4-player matches, 3 games/round.

- The three games played in each round are from different era, Stern (2007-), Bally/Williams (1991-) and Classics (1978-81).

- 24 players to playoff where position 1-8 receive a bye.

- Playoff with 4-player groups. Each round is played on a machine bank containing one modern Stern game, one Bally/Williams 90s game and one Classics game. Best two players advance to the next round.

- Both qualification and playoff through Next matchplay events.

- Side tournament is Pin-Golf in Pin-Master style.

- The weekend starts off with a warm-up tournament on Friday night. More details will come in a separate thread with pre-registration.

Write your tag, name and IFPA ID. You must pay the registration fee in advance to secure your spot in the tournament. When we have received the payment, your name will be followed by “PAID”. Note! Players on the waiting list must also pay the fee in advance to have a chance to get a spot in the tournament (of course we make a refund if there is no spot available).


PAYMENT

We must have received your payment no later than March 19th via international bank transfer to Lund Pinball Academy AB, c/o Nilsson, Apelvägen 4, 23253 Åkarp, Sweden, BIC: HANDSESS, IBAN: SE18 6000 0000 0004 5996 8688. Provide your tag, name and IFPA ID. Please keep in mind that international bank transfer will take a couple of days and act accordingly. After March 19th, if we have not received the registration fee, a player will be replaced with a player from the waiting list who has paid in time. No refund after 19/3.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT - LPA Open

QUALIFICATION
The qualification is seven rounds of group matchplay, three games (Stern, Bally/Williams 90s/Classics) per round, with player pairing tiered Swiss. Seeding for round one is IFPA ranking. Players with highest seed choose start order on the first game. On subsequent game, player ended up last on previous game pick position first. Scoring is 3, 2, 1 and 0 points. In case of 3-player matches the scoring is 3, 1.5 and 0.

During Saturday there will be seven rounds with a food break. The top 24 players advance to Sunday playoff where position 1-8 receives a bye. Important, players with the same points around the cut for playoff and bye will play a tiebreaker match directly after round seven meaning that the position in Matchplay is not valid for playoff. If there is any cancellation thereafter to participate in the playoff spots will be filled up according to the standings in Next Matchplay.


PLAYOFF
If a player does not show up at Sunday morning 08:30 check-in he or she is replaced with a player according to standings on Matchplay event. Playoff is also a group matchplay where each round consists of 3 games, each one from a different era. Games are divided into machine banks and the player with highest seed in a group will pick the machine bank to play on from the available machine banks. However, a player is not allowed to choose the same machine bank twice in the playoff. On the first game seed 2 choose position first followed by seed no. 3, 4 and 1. The start position on the following game is the finish position of the previous game. Points awarded are 3, 2, 1 and 0 and the best two players advance to the next round. A tie for advancement is broken by playing a random game (from a machine bank that was not used that round). A tiebreaker match is also played if eliminated players have the same score.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT - LPA PinGolf

PinGolf on a twelve-hole golf course. Both qualification and playoff are PinGolf in Pin-Master style. Each game is set to five balls with a target score. The 16 best players advance to playoff. A tie for making it to playoff is broken with a match on a random game (Matchplay standing is not valid around the cut line). Qualification is from 3 pm Friday to 11:30 am Sunday.
Playoffs are performed in groups of four on three random games. The best two players advance to the next round and a tie is broken with a match on a random game. A tiebreaker match is played if eliminated players have the same score. In the final standing of the tournament, it will be a tie between players with the same position in corresponding groups.
