Hi!

Do you have a schedule for the tournament yet?
It would make it easier to plan the flights etc. :-)

Hi again,

I´m sorry, but I will have to cancel DPO this year too. :(
You seem to have quite a few names on the waiting list though, so someone else will be happy I suppose.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and best of luck with the tournament

Regards,
Mats Runsten

Hi all,

All 80 tickets have been claimed at this point.

Unfortunately that means that we cannot offer any tickets to our waiting list. However if players cancel for some reason we'll be sure to instantly offer the tickets to the good people on the waiting list.

Cheers,

The Pinlab crew

Tournament details for Danish Pinball Open 2016

Format and execution will be much like last year. We will run two separate tournaments. Main and Classic.
Time wise we will run them alongside each other from 10 AM and the finals may run l little over midnight. Dinner will be served early between qualification and finals.

Main Tournament – Modern Machines (dot matrix display)

Qualifying
Players get divided into five groups with 16 players in each (seeded so that 1st and 10th seed is in group A. 2nd and 9th seed in group B, 3rd and 8th seed is in group C and so forth).

All players play two games on five different machines (total of 10 games). The scores for the two games are added together. The total score on each machine earns the player a position 1 through 16 for each machine. For each machine, the player receives a number of points (IFPA-style).

#1 = 100 points
#2 = 95 points
#3 = 92 points
#4 = 90 points
#5 = 89 points
#6 = 88 points

The 32 players with most points across all five groups advances to the A-finals
Players qualifying from 33-64 advances to the B-finals
Players qualifying from 65-80 leaves the main tournament.

In case of ties (players with the same amount of points after qualifying), there will be an automatic draw to determine qualification-position. Only exception from this rule is ties involving positions 32 and 33 or 64 and 65. Since these ties will determine whether a player plays A or B finals (or plays B or leaves). In case of ties for these positions there will be a full tie-breaker game on a machine chosen by the Tournament Director.

Finals
In A-finals there will be match play single elimination 1-on-1 in matches best of 5 machines. Up until a 4-player final.

In B-finals there will be match play single elimination 1-on-1 in matches best of 3 machines. Up until a 4-player final.

Final-Four will be played 4-player best of 3 machines. Points awarded 4-2-1-0. Ties in the finals will result in an extra tiebreaker game.

Machines for every game will be drawn at random from available machines. With the exception that a machine can only be played once every best-of-five/three match.

Starting order: On the first game on the first machine the best qualifier goes second. From there on the winner from the last machine starts on the next machine.

Keeping within the time schedule: As soon as player two has won the game he or she is expected to stop playing. That also means no playing ball three if you are player two and leading the game.

Classic Tournament – Older Machines (non-dot matrix display)

The Classic Tournament will be much like the Main tournament with some important changes:

- Players qualify in three groups (not five)
- 8 qualifying games (not 10)
- Only 16 players advance (not 64)
- 2-player final (not 4)

All details below.

Qualifying
Players get divided into three groups (one with 26 players and two with 27 players). Groups are seeded so that 1st and 10th seed is in group A. 2nd and 9th seed in group B, 3rd and 8th seed is in group C.

All players play two games on four different machines (total of 8 games). The scores for the two games are added together. The total score on each machine earns the player a position 1 through 27 for each machine. For each machine, the player receives a number of points (IFPA-style).

#1 = 100 points
#2 = 95 points
#3 = 92 points
#4 = 90 points
#5 = 89 points
#6 = 88 points

The 16 players with most points across all three groups advances to the A-finals
Players qualifying from 17-80 leaves the Classic tournament.

In case of ties (players with the same amount of points after qualifying), there will be an automatic draw to determine qualification-position. Only exception from this rule is ties involving positions 16 and 17. Since these ties will determine whether a player plays A or leaves the tournament. In case of ties for these positions there will be a full tie-breaker game on a machine chosen by the Tournament Director.

Finals
In A-finals there will be match play single elimination 1-on-1 in matches best of 5 machines. All the way through till we have a winner.

Machines for every game will be drawn at random from available machines. With the exception that a machine can only be played once every best-of-five match.

Starting order: On the first game on the first machine the best qualifier goes second. From there on the winner from the last machine starts on the next machine.

Keeping within the time schedule: As soon as player two has won the game he or she is expected to stop playing. That also means no playing ball three if you are player two and leading the game.

BE AWARE: All of this may change due to break down of machines, running late, mood of CD etcetera – so please be flexible and patient. It’s only pinball.
